Mastering Change in The Fire Service™

  • Recruiting and retaining a qualified, diverse, inclusive and safe Fire/EMS workforce.
  • Meeting the needs and challenges of an aging population and growing multicultural communities.
  • Bringing prevention to the forefront.
  • Natural and man-made disasters with far-reaching operational and financial ramifications for the fire service.

When change is this monumental, we have two choices: It can drive us or we can lead it.

Mastering Change in The Fire Service is a two-day workshop that provides fire chiefs and their command officers with the insights and tools for mastering change. The workshop is a customized version of a program called the Masterful Change Agent™ that was developed by Hanley Brite, founder and CEO of Authentic Connections.

The workshop has been structured to have three-person teams from fire departments participate. The $2,400 fee for a three-person team includes materials, lunches, snacks and beverages.

“It was unique from other classes I have taken because it challenged management to work together to identify the issues currently facing the department and the issues that will challenge the department in the future. Additionally, it forces you to come back to the issues and evaluate the effectiveness of your plan. If you follow the framework of Mastering Change it makes sure that your progress is ongoing and it enables you to measure your results as a management team, but it also prompts you to expand and look for other issues that may challenge your department in the future.”

Community Mapping
FIRE 20/20 will work with your department to identify and map multicultural communities’ risk factors, incident data, demographics, languages, leaders, social organizations, gathering places, and faith institutions. This data will increase first responder and civilian safety and enhance the reach and effectiveness of both emergency and non-emergency services.

Facilitate fire department/community focus groups
FIRE 20/20 will organize and facilitate focus groups where Fire/EMS and multicultural community members come together to learn from one another. These focus groups can be used to gather customer service feedback, do needs analysis to identify fire and life safety risks and co-design prevention and recruitment programs.
